General Terms and Conditions for Green Jersey Shuttle Services

Booking and Payment Conditions

  1. Payment is required in full before the shuttle service, unless a prior account or invoice arrangement has been agreed in writing.
  2. No refunds will be made for late arrivals, missed pickups, no-shows, early departures, or changes of mind on the day of travel.
  3. The customer is responsible for providing accurate booking details, including pickup location, drop-off location, passenger numbers, luggage requirements, travel dates, times, and contact details.
  4. The customer is responsible for being ready at the agreed pickup time and location. Drivers are not required to wait beyond the agreed pickup time unless this has been arranged in advance.
  5. Any change to the agreed shuttle service, including pickup time, pickup location, drop-off location, route, number of passengers, luggage requirements, bike transport, or extra stops, must be agreed in advance.
  6. Green Jersey reserves the right to decline last-minute changes. If Green Jersey chooses to accommodate such changes, additional fees may be charged.
  7. Green Jersey reserves the right to decline booking changes requested outside regular working hours. If Green Jersey chooses to accommodate such changes, additional fees may be charged.
  8. The customer is responsible for any damage caused by themselves, their group, their luggage, or any equipment they bring onto or into the vehicle. Green Jersey reserves the right to charge repair, cleaning, recovery, or replacement costs where required.
  9. Passengers must follow all reasonable instructions given by the driver or Green Jersey staff.
  10. Green Jersey reserves the right to refuse carriage to any person where safety, behaviour, intoxication, aggression, hygiene, illness, or practical transport limitations create a risk or unreasonable burden.

Shuttle Cancellations

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel your shuttle booking, please email tours@greenjersey.co.nz as soon as possible.

Cancel 7 or more days before your shuttle and you’ll receive a full refund.

Cancel 1–6 days before your shuttle and we’ll retain a 20% cancellation fee.

Same-day cancellations and no-shows are not refundable.

If we have made non-refundable arrangements on your behalf, such as extra drivers, accommodation, ferry connections, vehicle positioning, third-party services, or special equipment, these costs may not be refundable regardless of when you cancel.

We recommend letting us know as early as possible if your plans change. Weather, traffic, road closures, transport delays, flight changes, train delays, ferry delays, or changes to your personal travel plans are not automatic grounds for a refund.

If Green Jersey needs to cancel your booking because it is unsafe or impractical to operate, we will offer a full refund or the option to reschedule.

If something genuinely unexpected happens, please get in touch. We may offer a credit, partial refund, or booking change at our discretion.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

Late Arrivals and Missed Pickups

Passengers must be ready to depart at the agreed pickup time.

If passengers are late, Green Jersey may need to depart without them, especially where the shuttle is part of a scheduled service, connects with another booking, or would affect other customers.

Where a driver is able to wait, additional waiting time may be charged.

Where passengers miss their pickup, no refund will be provided. Green Jersey may assist with alternative transport where practical, but any additional transport costs will be the customer’s responsibility.

For airport, train, ferry, event, or other timed transfers, customers are responsible for allowing enough time for delays, check-in requirements, luggage collection, and onward connections.

Luggage, Bikes, and Equipment

Customers must tell Green Jersey in advance about luggage, bikes, e-bikes, child seats, mobility equipment, oversized items, trailers, or any unusual transport requirements.

Green Jersey may decline to carry items that were not disclosed at the time of booking if there is not enough space or if the item cannot be safely transported.

Customers are responsible for making sure their luggage and personal items are suitable for transport.

Green Jersey is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings unless caused by our failure to take reasonable care.

Bikes, luggage, and other equipment may be transported in trailers, racks, storage areas, or other suitable vehicle spaces. Green Jersey will take reasonable care, but customers acknowledge that normal transport movement, road conditions, loading, and unloading carry some risk.

Passenger Conduct

Passengers must behave respectfully towards drivers, staff, other passengers, and members of the public.

Green Jersey may refuse to carry, remove, or decline future bookings from any passenger who:

  • behaves aggressively or abusively
  • appears intoxicated or unsafe to travel
  • damages property
  • refuses to follow reasonable safety instructions
  • creates a risk to the driver, vehicle, passengers, or public
  • causes unreasonable delay or disruption

No refund will be provided where service is refused or ended due to passenger behaviour.

Terms and Indemnity

  1. In these terms, “The Service” means the shuttle, transport, passenger transfer, bike transfer, luggage transfer, private charter, or related transport service provided by Green Jersey.
  2. I understand that travel involves certain inherent risks, including traffic, road conditions, weather, vehicle breakdown, road closures, delays, accidents, illness, remote locations, and events outside Green Jersey’s control.
  3. I accept that these risks may cause delay, inconvenience, extra cost, injury, loss, or damage to property.
  4. Green Jersey will take reasonable care in providing the Service, but is not responsible for delays, missed connections, changed schedules, road closures, weather events, strikes, mechanical issues, ferry delays, train delays, flight delays, traffic incidents, or other circumstances outside its reasonable control.
  5. Green Jersey has the right to alter routes, departure times, pickup arrangements, vehicles, or itineraries where necessary for safety, practicality, road conditions, operational requirements, or events outside its control.
  6. If changes result in additional costs, the customer may be required to pay those costs. If changes result in clear cost savings, Green Jersey may pass those savings on at its discretion.
  7. Green Jersey’s liability for any claim, loss, damage, delay, or inconvenience is limited to the amount paid for the shuttle service, except where this limitation is not permitted by law.
  8. Nothing in these terms limits any rights or remedies the customer may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
  9. I agree not to make a claim against Green Jersey, its owners, officers, employees, contractors, or agents for loss, damage, delay, injury, or inconvenience arising from the Service, except where Green Jersey has failed to meet obligations that cannot legally be excluded.
  10. I indemnify Green Jersey against claims, losses, damages, costs, cleaning costs, repair costs, recovery costs, or expenses caused directly or indirectly by my actions, my group’s actions, my luggage, my equipment, or my failure to provide accurate booking information.
  11. Green Jersey has the right to decline to accept or continue carrying any passenger at any time where safety, conduct, health, intoxication, vehicle capacity, luggage, access, or operational concerns make this reasonable.
  12. I confirm that I am authorised to make the booking and accept these terms on behalf of all passengers included in my booking, including anyone under the age of 18.
  13. In the event of a dispute, both parties will try for 14 days to resolve the matter through direct communication. If the matter cannot be resolved, the parties will consider mediation before taking further action.
  14. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

Private Charters, Group Bookings, and Custom Shuttle Services

For private charters, group transfers, tour shuttles, custom itineraries, and services requiring special vehicle or driver allocation, Green Jersey may require a deposit or full payment to confirm the booking.

Where Green Jersey has reserved vehicles, staff, or resources for a confirmed booking, cancellation fees may apply even where the customer no longer requires the service.

For custom shuttle services, any non-refundable costs incurred on behalf of the customer cannot be refunded or credited.

Changes to private charters or group bookings are subject to vehicle availability, driver availability, route practicality, legal driving-hour limits, and operational requirements.
